About this project

Selected businesses and registered training organisations (RTOs) around Australia will be the first in the world to use mobile learning in a secure environment. The Question and Testing Interoperability (QTI) Mobile Player (m-Player) project will provide acceptance testing and proof of product for a mobile application - QTI m-Player. It will allow the vocational education and training (VET) system to create assessing instruments for teachers and trainers to test students anywhere and anytime using mobile devices.

The QTI m-Player will initially operate on any handheld device with Windows mobile software which has access to the Internet, but learners do not have to be online when completing their assessment.

Project resources

The QTI m-Player project provides the following resources:

  • Project report.
  • Seven case studies including audio file interviews.
  • Technical maintenance documentation
  • Workflow documentation.
  • Evaluation report and audio file interview.
  • QTI m-Player software. Tutorial on how the QTI m-Player software operates.
  • Sample assessment instruments.
  • Video clips.

In addition to the above resources, further information is available from http://marcbowles.com/projects.htm about the post project development relating to authoring QTI 2.0 assessments and converting content for mobile devices.

Note: the QTI m-PlayerTM project involved the development and testing of the QTI m-PlayerTM on mobile or handheld devices by testing assessment instruments after converting them to QTI standard using a test QTI authoring tool (conversion software which was not part of the initial project).

TAFE Tasmania and The Institute for Working Futures Pty Ltd Tasmania. Project trials will be undertaken in a number of industries and workplace settings.
