Investment in the National Vocational Education and Training E-learning Strategy for 2012-2015 will stimulate innovative approaches to increasing participation in training and improve the skill levels of the Australian workforce.

Funding of $11.5m has been approved for the Strategy in 2011/12 by the Ministerial Council on Tertiary Education and Training for programs:

There is a bit of work happening out there with IMS content packages and ebooks. The Moodle books feature allows books to be exported in this format so it too has the built in capacity for creating durable learning resources and publishing them widely on the web via conversion to ebooks. See more of this at Canberra's Moodleposium11 in late October this year.

Toolbox learning objects could become even more widely portable as e-books. The mind boggles!

Interested parties are invited to take part in a research study that seeks to understand how trainers and educators are using learning objects in their day-to-day online teaching and learning practice.

The specific focus of the study is on factors that enable and constrain the use of learning objects when developing online learning experiences for learners.
