Description
This Toolbox is a collection of resources, suggested learning strategies and supporting material for the delivery of the Certificate III in Meat Processing (Meat Safety). There is a flexible range of resources for use in online learning programs. Teachers can use the Toolbox as a complete program, select one or more discrete units, or extract specific learning segments, pages or resources.
The Toolbox utilises extensive integration of video, audio and text, animated demonstrations and interactive activities. The virtual meatworks is a generic blueprint of processing operations in fictional cattle, pig and small stock facilities. There is also a generic laboratory blueprint.
The Meat Safety Toolbox provides a unique collection of resources that includes:
- a searchable gallery of over 500 photographs with descriptions
- a collection of videos showing actual meat processing and inspection procedures
- audio commentary on procedures and issues provided by ‘real’ people from the meat processing industry
- an indexed collection of sample forms, tags and stamps
- a searchable glossary of industry-specific terms including audio pronunciation of terms)
- a simulated three-dimensional map of a typical meat processing plant and its processes
- animal anatomy of cow, pig and sheep
- a bank of industry case studies, scenarios and examples
- a working example of a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) plan
- downloadable training notes from the National Meat Industry Training and Advisory Council (MINTRAC)
- a reference collection of relevant texts, web sites, videos and CD-ROMs.
